National Awards for Innovation in Urban Green Spaces

The CUGS-AMDA National Award for innovation Urban Green Spaces highlights and promotes vibrant, functional, urban green spaces by recognizing and rewarding outstanding examples of public green spaces that have improved lives and life styles of communities that surround them, and beyond.

About the Award
The award has been jointly set by the Center for Urban Green Spaces (CUGS) and Association for Municipalities and Development Authorities (AMDA), Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India. The award recognizes public green spaces recreation use, as well as for the purposes of reclamation, restoration or mitigation. Typical entries include: public, institutional or private park or open space landscapes of all kinds; including passive and active uses, preservation, reclamation, conservation; stormwater management, sustainable design; and more.

Recognition
The winner of the National Green Space Award receives a commemorative plaque and is recognized in an awards ceremony held during the Biennial International Congress on Urban Green Spaces. The winners (individual, team or organization most responsible for creating the winning green space) also gets an INR 100,000 (Rupees One Lac Only) cash prize. Further recognition includes press releases and announcements through various media channels, and on www.cugs.in

Jury
Members of the jury serve evaluating the CUGS Urban Green Space Award nominations. Jury members are selected to achieve regional balance and represent several facets of development expertise, including finance, architecture, land planning and development, public affairs, design, and professional services.

The jury will consider the quality of design, sustainability and functional benefits to the community to select upto five entries for awards, once every two years.
